What’s New

Casa Paloma
Midway City, CA 92655

This beautiful residential community in Midway City is the first of American Family Housing’s next generation of supportive housing developments. Casa Paloma started from the opportunity one sees in one’s own neighborhood and was conceived with AFH’s firsthand knowledge of the local Orange County context.

PLACEMAKING

PLACEMAKING

AFH started by imagining what if a Master Plan for Midway City existed, how would this development fit in? We pictured Jackson Street as a neighborhood spine, a vibrant street lined with a mix of uses and a variety of pocket parks and plazas. Therefore, we worked with KTGY Architecture to place the parking on Van Buren Street, and to orient the building along Jackson to create a street wall. An event plaza creates a focal point and gathering place adjacent to the street.

MODULAR INNOVATION

AFH pioneered innovative construction with Potters Lane, and now applies the lessons learned to Casa Paloma. We assembled a first-rate team of professionals with modular and affordable housing expertise, including KTGY Architecture and Planning, Prefab Logic, Cannon Constructors, Nashua Builders and AMJ Construction Management.

By building the units in a factory at the same time that the site is being prepared, months are shaved off of the construction schedule, saving money and more importantly getting our homeless tenants housed more quickly than would be possible with conventional stick construction.
