Mike was born alongside of his twin and future business partner, Patrick. He was raised with his family of fourteen children in the South Bay area. He attended Junipero Serra High School in Gardena and went on to graduate cum laude from California State University, Long Beach. While in college, he was a member and officer of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was also a member of Beta Alpha Psi and the Accounting Society. Following graduation, Mike went to work for Arthur Young and Company, now Ernst & Young. In 1980, he started the Murphy & Murphy, CPAs team along with his twin brother. Over 40 years later, the firm has grown to over 70 people, who are all a part of the now Murphy, Murphy & Murphy CPA family. He enjoys being a family man and has raised five children in Huntington Beach. He now enjoys great grandchildren as well. He also enjoys the family-friendly environment of Murphy, Murphy & Murphy. He is very active outside of MMM, where he is involved with such groups as American Family Housing, Christian Family Retreat, The Haynes Charity Fund, Saints Simon and Jude Church and the Orange Catholic Foundation.
