Integrating Housing & Healthcare

Potter’s Lane in Midway City was the first permanent supportive multi-housing development to utilize upcycled steel shipping containers to house homeless veterans. Completed in 2017, Potter’s Lane provides permanent housing to 15 veterans with special needs using 16 480 sq. ft. living spaces.

In September 2017, the American Institute of Architecture in Orange County recognized Potter’s Lane with a “Merit Award for Planned Residential Development” at the annual AIAOC Design Awards. Robert Simons, AIA, President of SVA Architects, stated “We are honored that Builder Magazine recognized Potter’s Lane. Not only does this project help address the need for permanent supportive housing for veterans in Orange County, it also will help shape future standards for affordable housing nationwide.”
